Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1:  How do I obtain a provisional license?

Answer 1: You must be 17 years of age to apply for a provisional license, although you can send in your application form 3 months before your 17th birthday. You can obtain an application form D1 from any post office. Fill this out and send it to the address shown on the form. The DVLA supplies provisional licenses. You can call them with any questions on 0870 240 0009.

Question 2: Do I have to pass my theory test before I start my lessons?

Answer 2: No you don’t. You can start your driving lessons as soon as you have a valid provisional license. Your theory test will help you with the knowledge of the road and any driving you do will help you with your theory.

Question 3: Can you help me with my theory study?

Answer 3: Yes I can. I have Theory books & cd rooms, including the Hazard perception, that I lend out to pupils.

Question 4: How many lessons will I need?

Answer 4: How many lessons you will need is down to how much effort you are prepared to put in.

If you really want to learn to drive and can get lots of practice, you will get to test standard much quicker than someone who has 1 lesson a week and no practice.

However, you should remember that everyone is different and therefore learns at a different pace. Don’t put pressure on yourself by expecting to pass after 5 lessons.

Don’t be pressured by other people who tell you that they passed after 20 lessons. Think of it like learning another language – how many lessons will it take for you to be fluent? Impossible to say isn’t it?

Question 5: What method of payment do you accept?

Answer 5:: Payment can be either cash or  cheque
